NEWS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS
As of April 22, 2006, the National Federation for Biblio/Poetry Therapy has established the Certified Applied Poetry Facilitator credential for people who are not state-licensed therapists and who satisfactorily complete an approved 440-hour poetry therapy training program. Applicants who are not licensed in medical or mental health fields who submit applications for training or credentials to the Federation credentials committee after April 22, 2006 will be eligible for the new CAPF designation.

As of April 22, 2006, the National Federation has changed the abbreviation for the Registered Poetry Therapist credential to PTR (from RPT) to avoid confusion with the abbreviations for Registered Play Therapist and Registered Physical Therapist.

As of January 1, 2007 the National Federation has issued its new Guide to Training Requirements.   The Guide is free as a PDF download.  It may be ordered in hardcopy print form for $30. See our Training Guide page for more details.

Whenever used in this website, the term “poetry therapy” encompasses all forms of the interactive use of literature and/or writing to promote growth and healing.  The terms poetry therapy, journal therapy, bibliotherapy, biblio/poetry therapy and poetry/journal therapy are all included under this umbrella.
